MEDALS FOR LIFE

Medals for Vikings

Only for true Vikings! Sail with us across wild seas and earn your Strong Viking medals! With your achievements at Strong Viking events, you can collect all parts of the unique Strong Viking honor metal. But… you’ll have to earn it, of course.
Ready to sail wild waters, conquer lands, and face the challenge? Then read on!

The Medals for Life

There are a total of four complete medals to earn. Each medal consists of multiple parts, allowing you to keep collecting towards a complete medal for life.

    1. Sleipnir Axe (4 parts)
    2. Varjagen Shield (6 parts)
    3. Gjermundbu Helmet (6 parts)
    4. Drakkar Ship (9 parts)
How does it work?

To collect medals, you need to collect points. Every two Obstacle Runs you participate in, you earn a medal. Completed editions never expire, so you can keep collecting to complete the full Strong Viking honor metal. The medals are of course not just pieces of metal. Each medal has its own story, background, and requires a unique achievement. How far will you go?

Note: Family Runs do not count towards points. Children up to 13 years old receive a unique Strong Viking medal immediately after finishing a run. Are you participating in an Ultra Viking or Iron Viking? Then, in addition to medal points, you’ll also receive the highly coveted Iron or Ultra Viking medal.

Medal points

The progress of earning medals is carefully tracked in your personal Strong Viking account linked to your email address. All you need to do is create an account and personalize your purchased tickets (and of course, participate in the events).

DE MEDALS FOR LIFE

SLEIPNIR AXE
Your journey begins with the Sleipnir Axe, made up of four parts. The Sleipnir Axe is inspired by Sleipnir, the eight-legged horse of the chief god Odin from Norse mythology. For every two medal points, you earn one part. After 2, 4, 6, and 8 challenges, you receive a piece each time. With 8 points, your Sleipnir Axe is complete.

VARJAGEN SHIELD

The Varjagen Shield will protect you during your journey so that you can overcome all obstacles. The shield consists of six parts, and again, you need to earn two medal points for each part. When you reach the twentieth medal point, you can proudly call yourself the owner of the Varjagen Shield.

GJERMUNDBU HELMET
The existence of this helmet was long considered a myth, but it has now been revealed. The Gjermundbu Helmet consists of six parts, and obtaining this helmet requires a lot of perseverance. You receive your first part after completing 24 runs, and after 36 runs, your Gjermundbu Helmet is complete!

DRAKKAR SHIP
Time to continue your journey and explore the unknown! Floki’s Drakkar Ship, the iconic Viking ship, consists of 9 parts. You receive the first part after 34 runs. Want to build the entire ship? Then an impressive journey lies ahead of you! Only the strongest of the strong, with enough points, will be able to raise the sail. The ship is complete after finishing 50 obstacle runs.

MEDAL FRAMES

Would you like to give your hard-earned medals a special place? You can with the special medal frames! These frames are the perfect storage solution for your earned medal pieces. A dark wooden frame with a black inlay to keep all the parts together β€” now that’s a real showpiece!

MORE INFORMATION

You receive a medal every second Strong Viking edition you finish. Your participation is automatically tracked in your personal Strong Viking account. At the registration tent, you will receive a medal wristband every second edition, which allows you to collect your medal immediately after finishing at the Medal Point.

Note: Family editions do not count towards the Medals For Life system. Children up to 13 years old receive a unique Strong Viking medal immediately after completing a Family run!

All editions from 2020 onwards count towards the Medals For Life collection system.

You receive a medal after finishing every second edition. We do not differentiate between distances, since everyone takes on the challenge at their own level! Whether you run 4km one time and 13km the next, it doesn’t matter. For every two runs, you earn a medal!

For the Iron Viking and Ultra Viking, you will of course also receive the coveted finisher medal in addition to the points you collect for Medals for Life.

No, Trail Runs do not count towards the Medals for Life system. Only the official Strong Viking Obstacle Runs and specific race distances qualify for earning medal points.

Sleipnir Axe (Series 1): 2 – 4 – 6 – 8 editions
Varjagen Shield (Series 2): 10 – 12 – 14 – 16 – 18 – 20 editions
Gjermundbu Helmet (Series 3): 22 – 24 – 26 – 28 – 30 – 32 editions
Drakkar Ship (Series 4): 34 – 36 – 38 – 40 – 42 – 44 – 46 – 48 – 50 editions

The tracking within our Medals for Life system is completely automatic. It is essential that you personalize or purchase your Strong Viking tickets using the same email address. Only then will your editions be automatically registered as soon as you cross the finish line.

NOTE: Not personalizing means no registration β€” and therefore no medals!

It is important to personalize all Strong Viking tickets with the same email address.

If you have used different email addresses for your past or upcoming events, you can transfer these tickets to the correct email address. (This is not possible for runs before 2020!)
Send us an email at info@strongviking.com and we will be happy to assist you!

You can check your progress and medals here!
Note: The email address you enter must match the email address you used to personalize your tickets. Only then can you view the medals you have earned!

No, your completed editions (from 2020 onwards) remain valid for life!

So if you get injured or skip a year, no problem β€” the count simply continues from where you left off.
